Hello

Hello,

As many of you know (or vaguely know) I’ve wanted to be a missionary-midwife in India since I was twelve. Through YWAM I can do that, but since their midwifery school is one of their secondary schools, I have to take their DTS (Discipleship Training School), which teaches you how to be a disciple and then teach others.

I picked the adventure DTS, which is in Perth Australia, and starts January 8th of next year, it lasts 6 months. 3-4 months will be spend on the base learning more about God and drawing closer to him and learning how to disciple others, then you go on to the actual mission field and travel to third world countries applying what we’ve learned.  DTS finishes one week before the BAS (Birth Attendant School) starts July 2, thats when the real work starts.

In the BAS you spend 3 months on base doing all the text book learning to make sure you know everything on pregnancy for the women’s body and newborn baby. Then you spend the next 9 months traveling through different third world countries, working in their local hospitals, starting off with teaching prenatal care, then moving to check ups through the pregnancy, then we watch the trained midwives do a delivery or two and then we start helping with deliveries too, and then doing them by ourselves with supervision, till we can do everything by ourselves (including the hospital paper work).

DTS-
Application- $23
Visa- $550
Ticket- $1,700
Lecture- $2,750
Fuel + Supply- $960
Outreach- $4,000
Personal needs- $105
Insurance- $340
Total- $10,428

BAS-
Application- $23
Lecture- $3,060
Outreach- $6,820
Personal needs- $330
Insurance- $340
Visa- $20
*Ticket- $1,700
Total- $12,293

Grand Total- $22,721

(^The outreach fee’s are approximated, it all comes down to ticket prices, ect.)

I know thats an awfully big sum, but I don’t need it all at once. Some have told me to go to college instead of DTS and BAS, and that it’d be cheeper. The average cost of a year of college is $7,318-$15,001, with a loan of $6k a year usually, (and you can’t exactly get a degree and do anything with a year of college).  You don’t get to go through two schools, travel to multiple countries in the span of eighteen months in college, much less go through a midwifery school here for that little or short amount of time.

I don’t need the full DTS sum before going in, but I do need $1,000 to get in and two full months before the school starts.

Some ways to support me: prayer, financially, prayer, prayer, prayer, and oh more prayer!
Ways you can help: pray for me, my family, over the whole vision and that I’d always be following where God leads me, whether in going somewhere I never thought of or something as simple as talking to a certain person. Maybe tell some friends, the more people praying the smoother everything will go. And maybe cover me financially.

Somethings to pray about-

1. For my passport/intuition fee/insurance fee all to get accepted and put to my name, so that I can start working on my Australian visa
2. When I do start working on the visa that it goes smoothly and quickly, Australia is known for being a pain to get a visa in
3. For peace as I leave in like 5 weeks now (Jan 8th), and still need a visa, plane ticket, and the rest of the on base fee
4. That I can maybe get a laptop before I leave, so that I can keep in contact with everyone

*Each of these are possible other sources of cost that I will not know till later if I need it or not.

Thank you for all your prayers and support!!!!!
Joannah
